2009 FESTIVAL JUDGES

Evanston filmmaker Maria Finitzo, whose latest film “Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita” (Kartemquin Films) won a 2009 Peabody Award, served as the judge for films in the documentary category.

Scott Curtis, Associate Professor in the Department of Radio/ Television/Film at Northwestern University, served as the festival judge for films in the animation and short film categories.

Thanks to our festival judges for their commitment and expertise!

THE 2009 COMPETITION

Independent filmmakers from the U.S., Canada, Asia and Europe submitted films to the 2009 Talking Pictures Festival in response to a “call for entries.”  With the help of pre-screeners and programmers, we selected films that were shown during the festival and competed for awards.

In addition to the films in competition, we also sought out outstanding new film titles that were already in distribution. Those titles did not compete for awards.
